From huia and kōkako to vivid x-rays of fish, vibrantly coloured moths and butterflies, matau of the Pacific to moa bones from the Chatham Islands; this display pays tribute to ngā taonga ō te taiao, treasures of the natural world.
Using imagery from the book 'Nature – Stilled' (Te Papa Press and Jane Ussher) which documented Te Papa’s natural history collection; the result is a curio cabinet to invoke curiosity and encourage visitors to learn more by visiting the permanent exhibition Te Taiao.
