Ko te pū, te more, te weu, te aka, te rea, te wao nui, te kune, te whē, te kore, te pō…

Te Whē is a journal of Māori literature which provides a platform for critical discourse and invites a mātauranga Māori lens to both the creation and reading of literature.
Te Whē was created by two Māori creative writers, forming part of a doctoral research in creative writing.
The design language aims to evoke the humble but strong characteristics of the whenua. Flax papers, blind embossing, pencil sketches, and generous spacing and fonts support the literature to take centre stage.
On this project, mātauranga between client and designer culminated in a single product that is not only cognisant of, but expressive of, kaupapa, mātauranga and mana motuhake Māori.
