Client: Ngā Kaitiaki Mauri
Deliverables: 36-page report
He Ara Toiora is a capability development guide for Kaupapa Māori organisations and independent Kaupapa Māori practitioners who respond to and work in the prevention and practice of mahi tūkino (sexual violence) within Māori communities. This framework arises from the wealth of Kaupapa Māori research affirming that mātauranga led responses are not only more effective than generic approaches, but essential to wellbeing and healing.
Alongside this mahi, a wealth of kaupapa Māori research has emerged, much of it led by those who knew the importance of reclaiming and validating our own Māori knowledge systems and worldviews. This body of work has reshaped how the sector understands both the impacts of sexual violence and the solutions required for our communities.

He Ara Toiora has been developed as a companion to Te Ara Kōkōrangi – created by Ngā Kaitiaki Mauri and designed by Huia Publishers.
